[April, 20, 2023] Today, Taiwan Tech and TUD Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden) inked a cooperation agreement to intensify bilateral cooperation in the fields of electrical and computer engineering, data science, and microelectronics. This agreement was signed during a visit to Taiwan Tech campus by a 10-member delegation from Saxony, led by Saxony's Minister of Science and Culture Sebastian Gemkow, that included members of TU Dresden and the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems.  
TU Dresden, a member of the TU9 consortium of German technical universities,  is a leading research university in Germany and one of Germany’s eleven Universities of Excellence. Located in the State of Saxony in Eastern Germany, the Dresden region is now dubbed Silicon Saxony for being the largest microelectronics hub in Europe with over 1,500 companies. TU Dresden is renowned for its cutting-edge research in information technology and microelectronics, making it a perfect cooperation partner for Taiwan Tech.   
 
Taiwan Tech and TU Dresden have had a successful partnership since 2007, and this new agreement represents a significant intensification of that partnership. The two universities will join hands to promote faculty exchange, laboratory exchanges, and research internships, as well as joint PhD supervision and dual-degree programs. The partnership will enable both universities to share their expertise and resources, and work together to advance knowledge in the fields of electrical and computer engineering, data science, and microelectronics.
 
Taiwan Tech is one of Taiwan's foremost technological universities, and has built a reputation as an international applied research university. It has excellent academia-industry ties, a highly international student body, and more than 400 partner universities worldwide. Its excellent ecosystem for start-ups makes it an ideal partner for TU Dresden.
 
Both universities are excited about the opportunities this partnership presents, and look forward to working together to promote technological innovation and talent development in their respective countries.
