The 2026 THE World University Rankings: Taiwan Tech tops technological universities again, excelling in research and industry impact.[ 9 Oct. 2025]

The Times Higher Education (THE) in the United Kingdom announced the “World University Rankings 2026” today (9th). National Taiwan University (NTU) ranked 140th globally, making it the top university in Taiwan. It was followed by China Medical University, which ranked within the 301–350 range, and Taiwan Tech which maintained its position in the 401–500 range. Taiwan Tech once again secured its title as the nation’s leading technological and vocational university, ranking third nationwide alongside Asia University, National Tsing Hua University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, and Taipei Medical University. These results highlight the continued advancement and diversity of Taiwan’s higher education system.

In this year’s evaluation, Taiwan Tech achieved notable improvements in both the “research environment” and “industry” indicators. It ranked fifth nationwide in “research environment”, reflecting steady progress in research output, international collaboration, and academic impact. In the “industry and research quality” categories, it ranked sixth nationwide, demonstrating the university’s long-term commitment to interdisciplinary integration, strengthening research capacity, and promoting industry–academia collaboration, technology transfer, and applied research.

A total of 2,191 universities from 115 countries and regions were included in this year’s rankings - an increase of nearly 100 institutions compared to last year - showcasing the growing global effort to enhance academic standards and international influence.
