    President Liao, Ching-Jong of NTUST, concurrently a chair professor of the Dept. of Industrial Management, said in his first day as the university's president that one of his resolutions as the head of the school is to turn the campus into a joy land of study by enhancing the effectiveness of administration.

    President Liao said NTUST will continue to fulfill the public's expectation to be the cradle of great talents needed by the industries. Our commitment in meeting such an expectation is evident from our efforts to keep abreast with the advancement of science and technology. For instance, in order to train the best talents in precision machinery industry, we install the advanced five-axis machine tool in our mechanical workshop. To help our nation's industries to be protected by patented inventions, we founded the first college of intellectual property studies to train legal and IP experts.

    President Liao graduated from the Dept. of Industrial Management, Mingchi Institute of Technology and got a master degree in Management Science from Illinois Institute of Technology. He has a Ph.D. of Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania University, USA. With his solid training and working experience, President Liao has a profound understanding of technological and vocational education in Taiwan.

    Before becoming NTUST president, Professor Liao held positions as Vice President of NTUST, Dean of the College of Management, and Dean of Research and Development. His research areas include production management and scheduling theory. The honors received by President Liao include Outstanding Research Award from National Science Council and Best Teacher Award from Ministry of Education.

    President Liao said that NTUST is among the top universities and model technological universities selected by the Ministry of Education. Therefore, we are obliged to spearhead our efforts to be one of the best schools in Asia. To enhance the effectiveness of our endeavors, we need supports from happy students and faculty members. This is the reason why turning the campus into a joy land of study is among the priorities in the agenda of his presidency.
