NTUST Design Exhibit a shining spot in Taipei World Design Expo 2011

    2011 IDA (International Design Alliance Congress) Education Conference of Taipei World Design Expo is scheduled to last until October 30. If you have not been to TWTC Exhibition Hall to visit the International Design Student Exhibition and thus missed NTUST’s Design Exhibit, you will be missing the best show in town. NTUST’s theme in the Expo, Change by Change, created by exhibitors from The Department of Industrial & Commercial Design, showcases the imagery of a future forest surviving human destructive forces. It occupies a small corner at TWTC Exhibition Hall. The unique exhibition layout and the collection of award-winning designs shared by our pioneer designers have attracted visitors who packed the house and turned it into the brightest spot in the Expo.   

    To turn the world we live into a better place, NTUST has been in constant pursuit of change for better. We sought for the approval of our award-winning students and alumni to showcase winners from various international contests in the past. Moreover, we present some design products that have already have keen interest from the design industry. With such content in mind, we are in the Expo to demonstrate our legacy in design and our readiness to deliver the design prototypes to production lines. 

    Professor Regina W.Y. Wang, Chair and Design Director of the I&C Design Design Department, attributes the success and popularity to “the clever use of malleable cloth material whose fiber turns the cold high-tech columns of light into a sentimental exhibit space that “is inhaling and exhaling”. According to the layout designer, the idea comes from their intention to break through the use of wood in traditional dividing walls. The light columns allowing “seeing through” help to feel that the exhibition space seems larger.
