SEAMEO INNOTECH visit highlights digital learning, SEL, and future education partnerships
The Graduate Institute of Digital Learning and Education at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) recently welcomed a delegation from SEAMEO INNOTECH, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology, for an exchange on AI-supported learning, social-emotional learning (SEL), and cross-cultural education.

The SEAMEO INNOTECH delegation from the Philippines joins the Taiwan Tech Digital Learning and Education team for a group photo following the exchange on AI-supported learning, SEL, and educational technology.
As the first Philippine education delegation of this program to visit Taiwan, the group brought together education leaders, school administrators, university faculty, and education technology specialists. The visit opened a direct dialogue between Taiwan Tech and Philippine education partners, creating a starting point for broader regional cooperation in digital education.
Taiwan Tech faculty members joined the exchange to introduce the institute's research in digital learning, human-centered AI, educational technology, and the design of emotionally supportive learning environments. The discussion also connected these research directions with future talent cultivation and the development of learning systems that can respond to social needs.
Philippine education representatives share field-based perspectives during the dialogue with Taiwan Tech faculty and partners.
Philippine participants shared field-based perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of applying digital tools in classrooms, including how AI may support language learning, emotional connection, and student resilience in digital spaces. The exchange emphasized that educational technology should not be limited to technical adoption, but should also help teachers understand learners, build relationships, and strengthen students' motivation to learn.
The dialogue further explored how digital learning can contribute to national education development. By linking research, classroom practice, and policy needs, Taiwan Tech and Philippine education partners discussed how innovation can improve access to quality learning, support educators, and prepare young people for an increasingly digital society.
A Five Love Languages activity brought the cultural exchange into a more personal space, inviting participants to share how care, encouragement, and understanding are expressed across cultures. Through this interaction, the delegation connected SEL with everyday educational practice and reflected on how technology can serve learners' well-being as well as academic progress.

Looking ahead, the visit is expected to encourage continued collaboration between Taiwan Tech, SEAMEO INNOTECH, and education partners across Southeast Asia. With the Philippine delegation as an important beginning, Taiwan Tech looks forward to working with more countries in the SEAMEO network to build more inclusive, resilient, and future-ready learning environments.
