“Global Talent from Taiwan Tech” - a new initiative, launched by Taiwan Tech’s Office of International Affairs in 2021, that saw a flurry of activities throughout last year, culminated in a grand Year-end International Alumni Reunion, held on Sunday, 15th January, 2023 in Taipei’s Victoria hotel. Almost 300 guests attended the glamorous event, among them 160 international Taiwan Tech alumni who started their careers in Taiwan.
Likewise, representatives from Taiwanese global enterprises that have recruited talent from Taiwan Tech, would not have missed the opportunity to show their support for Taiwan Tech and to present themselves as potential employers.
The festive luncheon was made possible through generous corporate sponsoring by the Taiwan Tech Alumni Association and more than 10 alumni-run companies.
Ted Chen, the new President of the Taiwan Tech Alumni and CEO of TUL Corporation said:
“We invite all Taiwan Tech alumni, regardless of nationality, to build a strong network. That will increase our strength and impact!”
Taiwan Tech President Jia-yush Yen opened the event with a warm “Welcome-back”-message to the alumni, some of whom came from other cities in Taiwan or even from abroad. For sure, the reunion was also a much appreciated chance to socialize and meet old and new friends. Jeffrey Susanto was the former President of the Indonesian Students' Association and is now working for ASML. As an alumni, he was happy to meet his friends from Taiwan Tech again:
”I am very grateful to Taiwan Tech for the help that I received as a student. Taiwan Tech makes a huge effort to support students in their career planning. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work at ASML!”
Planned by the OIA-team, the event was not only a culinary, but also a cultural highlight with live dance and music performances. The organizing team could draw on a rich pool of talents among Taiwan Tech international students and put up a variety show ranging from folklore dances to pop-music.The event was also attended by most of the university senior management, underlining the importance that the International Alumni network has gained for Taiwan Tech.
