On May 18, the Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center (STIC) of Taiwan Tech held the “2024 International Symposium on Circular Economy” in Jakarta, Indonesia. The symposium featured keynote speeches by Dr. Lin Ho, Head of the Science and Technology Division at the NSTC’s Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia; Dr. Ajeng, Director of Research and Innovation Funding at Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN); Dr. Asih, Member of the Indonesian Young Academy of Sciences (ALMI); and Professor Tengku from the University of Indonesia. The event attracted 40 experts and scholars from related fields in Indonesia, as well as Taiwan Tech alumni.

Taiwan Tech alumni in Indonesia celebrated the 50th anniversary of Taiwan Tech together.

Taiwan Tech established the Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center (STIC) in 2021 to support the Executive Yuan's New Southbound Policy and receive support from the National Science and Technology Council. The center aims to actively build partnerships and networks among Taiwan and Indonesia's industrial, governmental, and academic sectors, enhancing interactions and exchanges in sustainable development and circular economy-related technologies between the two countries.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Ho Lin emphasized Indonesia's role as an important partner for Taiwan. He expressed hopes that the Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center would serve as a bridge to establish closer cooperation mechanisms with Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), fostering more bilateral technological collaborations. Dr. Ajeng, Director of Research and Innovation Funding at BRIN, also promised to actively promote deep cooperation between Taiwan and Indonesia in the field of technological innovation.

One of the highlights of the symposium was the multifaceted discussions on the circular economy by various experts, covering policies, technologies, and practical applications. The content was rich and inspiring, and participants remarked that the symposium not only broadened their professional perspectives but also laid a solid foundation for future collaborations.

Additionally, the Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center participated in the “2024 Indonesia-Taiwan Expo” held in Jakarta from May 15 to 18, showcasing Taiwan's innovative technologies and products across various fields. This event aimed to promote interactions between Taiwanese businesses and the Indonesian market. Taiwan Tech joined forces with several renowned Taiwanese circular economy companies, including Revivegen Co., Ltd., P-waver, and Sanlien Technology Corp., to exhibit the latest circular economy technologies and solutions, engaging in in-depth exchanges with local Indonesian companies.

Through this participation, Taiwan Tech, in collaboration with the industrial, governmental, and academic sectors, showcased its research achievements in the field of circular economy. The event attracted numerous companies and local universities seeking to discuss potential collaborations, thereby enhancing Taiwan Tech's international visibility. Taiwan Tech Vice President Dr. Jhy-Cherng Liu stated that the university will continue to promote international cooperation, aiming to enhance its research capabilities and global influence through increased international exchanges and partnerships.
