Taiwan Tech Hosts Its First “International Partner Days” to Strengthen Global Collaboration in Higher Education Administration [October 2025]

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) hosted the first-ever “International Partner Days” from October 28 to 30, 2025.

Coinciding with the university’s 50th anniversary, the event focused on the theme “Linking Taiwan’s Higher Education with the High-Tech Industry.” For the first time, Taiwan Tech invited administrative representatives from its overseas partner universities to visit the campus for in-person exchanges and experience sharing.

A total of 12 administrative staff members from partner universities in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, Lithuania, and Switzerland joined the three-day program. The event featured sessions on higher education administration and inter-university collaboration, as well as site visits that showcased Taiwan’s close integration of academia and industry — allowing participants to gain deeper insights into Taiwan Tech’s achievements in internationalization and its role in cultivating global talent in science and technology.

The opening session featured Dr. Konrad YOUNG, CEO of Taiwan Tech’s College of Industry–Academia Innovation and former R&D Director at TSMC, as the keynote speaker.

In his talk, “Talent Cultivation and International Collaboration in Taiwan’s Semiconductor Industry,” Dr. YOUNG offered an accessible yet comprehensive overview of the evolution and global trends of the semiconductor sector, giving participants a clear understanding of Taiwan’s technological roadmap and industrial momentum.

In the subsequent sharing session, Professor YEH Ying-Jung, Vice President for International Affairs, presented Taiwan Tech’s recent achievements in international cooperation and academic exchange, emphasizing the university’s key role in global partnerships and in nurturing international talent in the fields of science, technology, and semiconductors. Ms. Weihua LIN, Senior Program Coordinator at the OIA, shared her extensive experience in organizing inclusive and innovative campus activities that connect international and local students — highlighting Taiwan Tech’s vision of moving “from cultural events to community co-creation.”

Meanwhile, Professor HSIAO Po-Chien from the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering introduced his University Social Responsibility (USR) project in rural Nepal, illustrating Taiwan Tech’s long-term commitment to social engagement and the importance of balancing technological education with humanistic values.

During the program, Taiwan Tech also organized a University Showcase, where visiting administrators met face-to-face with Taiwan Tech students to introduce their universities and exchange mobility opportunities, fostering deeper cross-cultural understanding.

As part of the corporate visits, the delegation toured BenQ Corporation, where Mr. Jeffrey LIANG, President for the Asia-Pacific, personally welcomed the group. The company’s team provided an engaging presentation on its world-leading display panel technologies and e-sports products, highlighting Taiwan’s strength and creativity in the global tech industry.

The visitors also met with the University Alliance in Talent Education Development (UAiTED) under the Sayling Wen Cultural & Education Foundation, where they were warmly received and learned about Taiwan’s innovative integration of technology, education, and talent development.

The International Partner Days served as an invaluable platform for overseas partners to gain a comprehensive understanding of Taiwan Tech’s campus, strengths, and innovation ecosystem. The event also deepened administrative collaboration and strengthened mutual partnership, laying a solid foundation for future international networks — a true reflection of Taiwan Tech’s core belief that “administration is the backbone of internationalization.”
