NTUST alumni poured in millions to celebrate its birthday
On the school's 38 anniversary, Chairman Lee Ko-Chu of International Games System Co., Ltd and other alumni donated over ten million NT dollars to help NTUST better technological & vocational education.
President Liao Ching-Jong of NTUST indicated that the gaps between technological & vocational education and industrial needs have recently drawn a lot of attention. To narrow the gaps, NTUST has been dedicated to direct our research efforts toward their applications and prioritize helping the industry sector solve their problems to be our primary goal. We set up a Joint R&D Center to minimize the costs incurred by redundant communications between the academic world and the industry.
President Liao went on pointing out the model stipulated by the Joint R&D Center is initiated by the industry's requests for problem solving, followed by the school's research centers working to finding out the answers. Students of our research centers are thus given the chances to understand the industry's developmental needs. At the same time they have the opportunities to put their learning into practice.
At the ceremony of our school's anniversary, Chairman Lee Ko-Chu of International Games System Co., Ltd, who graduated from NTUST's Dept. of Electronic Engineering, President Chiang Shun-Cheng and President Chen A-Chien of Commercial Game Business donated a total of 10 million NT$ to support their alma mater.
President Liao revealed that our campus in Taipei was designed to accommodate 4000 students. Now that we have 10000 students, the campus is a bit too crowded. Our faculty Senate thus resolved to allocate funding to get the Jhubei Campus ready for accommodating students in two years.
President Liao revealed the two main points of planning. One is the district set apart for the promotion of education-industry alliance, which can take the advantage of its vicinity to Hsinchu Scien Park, and the other is an global study camp for short-term training of foreign language skills, which is much needed by technological & vocational students.
President Liao believes that "Jhubei Campus is our secret weapon". It will give us the environment to facilitate our endeavors to stand side by side with NTU, NCKU, NTHU and NCTU and eventually become a top-three university in Taiwan.

At the ceremony of NTUST's 38th anniversary, first President Chen Li-An led guests to sing Birthday Song and cut birthday cakes.
