Prof. Chen Jiann-Jone of EE Department led students to top this year's competition of Microcomputer Application System Design

To cultivate students' interest in system design and application programming and to advance our nation's information education and industrial technology, Ministry of Education holds a competition conference of microcomputer hardware design every year to uphold this long-term policy and at the same time to help future participants warm up for global competitions in system design. The organization in charge has recruited experts in microcomputer system design and application programming from academia and industrial sectors to serve as judges for the competition.

This year marks the 29th year of this special conference. In total, there are 123 groups of college participants and 70 groups from graduate institutions entering the competition. In the final run, only 73 college groups and 48 graduate groups remain. The final groups were scheduled to demonstrate their on-site testing at National Cheng Kung University in the south and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in the north. The team of three graduate students, Hsieh Chen-Yu, Wu Jun-yi, Hsieh Yu-Lun, led by Prof. Chen Jiann-Jone of our Electric Engineering Department, has won the best design award in the graduate group with the system called "Cloud-based Video Run-time Transcoding System".
